Parents can check out programmable robots with their children’s books this summer. Finch Robots, designed to teach kids how to program computers, and are now available for checkout at six Chicago Public Library locations.

Chicago Public Library partnered with Google to bring 500 Finch Robots to its branches. The educational device lets users as young as 8 years old control the machine using more than 12 different coding languages.

Anyone with a library card can borrow a Finch or hold one online to be delivered to a public branch. Teachers can also check out a package of five bots for teaching groups. Lesson plans can be downloaded from the Finch Robot site. For more information visit the Chicago Public Library.
