A group of aldermen, labor leaders and business owners have 45 days to evaluate options and create a plan for increasing Chicago’s minimum wage.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the task force, called the Minimum Wage Working Group, Tuesday.

“Chicagoans deserve a raise,” the mayor said in a press release. The announcement comes during national protests by minimum wage workers demanding food chains raise wages.
