Skaters and BMX fans will have a new space to board and play near the loop. The Chicago City Council approved a $2.6 million skate park to be built in Grant Park near Roosevelt Road and Michigan Avenue.

The park, funded with TIF funds and the Chicago Park District, will feature a viewing platform, lawn space and performance area. The city is selling the Park District almost 2 acres of nearby land for $1 to accommodate the park.

The city also approved four other park improvements, including new light fixtures and field house repairs on the South and West Sides.
